About ISK

ISK is intended for foreign-language students in the age between 12 and 18. You receive an education in a period of one and a half to two years with which transition to the regular (special) secondary education or an intermediate vocational education (mbo) is possible.


Educational offering

The educational offering mainly focuses on Dutch as a Second Language (NT2). In addition, alignment is sought with the core subjects in the basic training such as biology, domestic science, mathematics, English, digital skills, orientation on our society, practice in social skills, creative training, and traffic and citizenship. Bridging social and cultural differences with the Dutch society is the focal point.


Objectives

ISK has the following objectives:

  • Foreign-language students between the age of 12 and 18 receive an education in a period of one and a half to two years, with which transition to the regular (special) education or a professional training is possible.
  • The educational offering mainly focuses on Dutch as a Second Language (NT2).
  • In addition, alignment is sought with the core subjects in the basic training such as biology, everyday interaction, mathematics, English, digital skills, orientation on our society, practice in social skills, creative training, and traffic and citizenship.
  • Bridging social and cultural differences with the Dutch society (by means of ice skating, cultural projects and sports projects).

The education in the subject Dutch is aiming for the students to:

  • Develop skills they can utilise to use this language effectively in situations occurring in daily life;
  • Acquire knowledge and insight regarding the meaning, use and form of the language;
  • Have or maintain pleasure in using and considering the language;
  • Be able to follow the regular lessons with Dutch as the main language used in the secondary education.
